S-WORKS TARMAC SL8 FRAME
Nothing is faster than the Tarmac SL8. Why? Because of the combination we have achieved between aerodynamics, lightness, and a ride quality that until recently seemed impossible. Eight generations later and after more than two decades of development, it is not only the fastest Tarmac in history: it is also the fastest racing bike in the world.
Races are not won only by aerodynamics or lightness: what matters is speed. To achieve it, you need an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and comfort.
Our Ride Science team simulated races with real data and discovered that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike ever made on the most important routes: 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km, 128 seconds faster in Milan-San Remo, and 20 seconds faster on the legendary Tourmalet climb.
- 100% AERO: We placed aerodynamic elements where they really matter, not just where they look good. This is our most aerodynamic road bike yet—more than the Venge. With the Speed Sniffer, the new Tarmac cone, clean air is optimized for maximum advantage. By moving the head tube back (which determines the head tube angle), the leading edge of the head tube becomes much sharper, creating a shape with much lower aerodynamic drag. Using new UCI rules, the Tarmac SL8 has the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we have ever made. This allows dirty air around the legs to flow cleaner to the rear. Victories never tasted so sweet, right?
- MINIMUM WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERODYNAMICS: Thanks to lessons learned from the Aethos, the Tarmac SL8 is designed to meet the UCI minimum requirements while offering a 100% aero construction. The team created an incredible 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour frame*. We also applied what we learned from the Aethos to prioritize lightness in the down tube, seat tube, and rear triangle. The frame shape efficiently handles loads without adding extra layers of carbon. *Except for the time Kasper Asgreen used our 585-gram Aethos frame on a Tour de France stage.
- ROCKET-LIKE SPEED, LUXURY RIDE: With an optimized stiffness-to-weight ratio (33% better than the SL7), the Tarmac SL8 delivers legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and a world-championship-proven geometry. The bike is stiffer at the pedals, more precise at the handlebars, and more comfortable at the saddle, setting a new standard of comfort for racing bikes. Thanks to our Rider-First Engineering, all riders, regardless of size, can enjoy ride quality and control never seen before. At the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more comfort: it glides over rough terrain and provides a smoothness uncommon in the demanding world of racing bikes. The geometry and 32 mm tire clearance are identical to the SL7, ensuring easy adaptation and the option to use wider tires when needed.
- BEYOND GENDER: There can be more differences between two male riders than between a man and a woman. Gender alone is not enough data to be the sole factor in bike design. That’s why creating bikes only for men or women is a thing of the past. All riders can enjoy the advantages of the Tarmac SL8. It’s time to go Beyond Gender.
- 68 mm threaded bottom bracket, Flat Mount disc brakes, and perfect integration: the S-Works Tarmac SL8 frame is the ultimate starting point to build the setup you’ve always dreamed of.
- Now, «Apple Find My» technology is integrated into all S-Works & Pro 4iiii power meters, allowing riders to have peace of mind knowing the exact location of their bikes.
