18.4% lighter than its closest competitor and sharing the geometry and kinematics of our World Cup-ready Epic 8 mountain bike, the new Chisel delivers performance you can feel, whether racing "between the tape" or riding solo on your local trails.
Thanks to D'Aluisio Smartweld, the Chisel is the lightest aluminum XC frame in its class. Each highly manipulated frame tube features continuously varying wall thickness and shape to provide stiffness where you need it for greater efficiency, and ride smoothness where you want it for increased comfort and optimal control.
With 110 mm of suspension featuring our Ride Dynamics technology, the Chisel’s high-performance pedigree traces directly back to the Epic 8, our World Cup race machine. The advanced suspension kinematics DNA of the Epic 8, Ride Dynamics suspension, and progressive geometry perfected on technical World Cup circuits are found in the Chisel, making it more than capable of handling varied terrain with confidence and speed.
The Chisel is the most efficient bike in its class, thanks to the geometry and kinematics used in our multi-World Cup-winning Epic 8 platform. The sloped seat tube places the rider in the optimal pedaling position. Sharp anti-squat reduces "false pedaling". All of this makes the Chisel translate every watt applied to the pedals into maximum forward motion.
We’ve designed a flexible stay rear for class-leading suspension performance while eliminating the additional weight and maintenance associated with pivots needed in a traditional design. More common in carbon bikes, exhaustive field and lab tests show that Chisel has achieved the impossible: the efficiency, control, and lightness of a flexible stay design in advanced aluminum.
The Chisel saves material and weight with a one-piece hydroformed seat tube integrating the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and bottom bracket. In a more traditional bike, the seat tube is typically just a "tube" with the pivots and bottom bracket welded on.
