18.4% lighter than its closest competitor and sharing the geometry and kinematics of our World Cup-ready Epic 8 mountain bike, the new Chisel delivers performance you can feel, whether you're racing "between the tape" or riding solo on your local trails.
Thanks to D'Aluisio Smartweld, the Chisel is the lightest aluminum XC frame in its class. Each highly manipulated frame tube features continuous wall thickness variation and a shape that provides stiffness where you need it, for greater efficiency, and ride smoothness where you want it, for greater comfort and optimal control.
With 110mm of suspension featuring our Ride Dynamics technology, the Chisel’s high-performance pedigree traces directly to the Epic 8, our World Cup race machine. The advanced suspension kinematics DNA of the Epic 8, Ride Dynamics suspension, and progressive geometry honed on technical World Cup circuits are found in the Chisel, making it more than capable of tackling varied terrains with confidence and speed.
The Chisel is the most efficient lung bike in its class, thanks to the geometry and kinematics leveraged from our multi-World Cup-winning Epic 8 platform. The slanted seat tube puts the rider in the optimal pedaling position. The sharp anti-squat reduces "bob". All of this ensures the Chisel translates every watt applied to the pedals into maximum forward motion.
We’ve designed a rear end with flexible stays to achieve class-leading suspension performance while eliminating the additional weight and maintenance associated with pivots needed in a traditional design. More common in carbon bikes, exhaustive field and lab testing prove that Chisel has achieved the impossible: the efficiency, control, and lightness of a flexible stay design in advanced aluminum.
The Chisel saves material and weight with a one-piece hydroformed seat tube that integrates the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and bottom bracket. In a more traditional bike, the seat tube is usually just a "tube" with the pivots and bottom bracket welded on.
