18.4% lighter than its closest competitor and sharing the geometry and kinematics of our Epic 8 World Cup-ready mountain bike, the new Chisel delivers performance you can feel, whether racing "between the tapes" or riding solo on your local trails.
Thanks to D'Aluisio Smartweld, the Chisel is the lightest XC aluminum frame in its class. Each highly manipulated frame tube features continuous wall thickness variation and shaping that provides stiffness where you need it for efficiency, and smoothness where you want it for comfort and optimal control.
With 110mm of suspension using our Ride Dynamics technology, the high-performance pedigree of the Chisel traces directly to the Epic 8, our World Cup racing machine. The DNA of advanced suspension kinematics from the Epic 8, Ride Dynamics suspension, and progressive geometry perfected on World Cup technical circuits are found in the Chisel, making it more than capable of confidently handling varied terrains with speed.
The Chisel is the most efficient lunging bike in its class, thanks to leveraging the geometry and kinematics used in our multiple World Cup-winning Epic 8 platform. The steeply sloping seat tube puts the rider in the optimal pedaling position. Sharp anti-squat reduces "false pedaling". All of this ensures that the Chisel translates every watt applied to the pedals into maximum forward motion.
We've designed a rear end with flexible stays to achieve class-leading suspension performance, while simultaneously eliminating the additional weight and maintenance associated with pivots needed in a traditional design. More common in carbon bikes, exhaustive field and lab testing prove that the Chisel has achieved the impossible: efficiency, control, and lightness of a flexible stay design in advanced aluminum.
The Chisel saves material and weight with a hydroformed single-piece seat tube that integrates the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and bottom bracket shell. In a more traditional bike, the seat tube is usually just a "tube" with welded pivots and bottom bracket.
